Erstan vs Zapier

Zapier connects thousands of apps, NetSuite among them, with trigger-and-action workflows and AI steps. Erstan does one thing: agents that know NetSuite finance work and, by default, hold every write for review.

Where Erstan and Zapier differ

NetSuite depth

ErstanRole agents and skills for payables, receivables, close, treasury and inventory, working through NetSuite’s MCP tools and the Erstan Add-on.

ZapierNetSuite is a premium app among 9,000+. You get record, SuiteQL and file actions; the finance logic is yours to build.

Approval is the default

ErstanTools that can write start at Require approval. The agent pauses, shows the exact change and waits for Run action or Don’t run.

ZapierAI tool steps run without pausing by default. You switch on approval per tool, or add a Human in the Loop step.

Each person’s own NetSuite role

ErstanAn agent can never see or change anything your own NetSuite login could not.

ZapierA Zap runs on the NetSuite connection it was built with, which a team can share.

Work as tasks, not run history

ErstanEvery run becomes a task with a Needs Review stage, in a team that holds its own agents, content and members.

ZapierZap history shows each run. Team plans share Zaps, folders and app connections.

Breadth or depth

Nine thousand apps, or one ERP done properly.

Zapier’s strength is reach: almost any app can talk to any other. Erstan’s is knowing what a vendor bill, a subsidiary or a period lock is. Its skills carry the NetSuite procedures, so an agent checks the accounting book and aging basis before it interprets a number.

Defaults

What happens when nobody added the safety step.

In a workflow builder, review is a step someone has to remember to add. In Erstan it is where write-capable tools start. Turning it off is a deliberate choice, and a tool set to Deny stays blocked whatever else is switched on.

Together

Keep the Zaps that work.

A form that creates a customer record, or a CRM deal that syncs to NetSuite, is what Zapier is for. Erstan picks up where judgment comes in: matching, exceptions, drafting and explaining.

When Zapier is the better choice

  • You are wiring many SaaS apps together and NetSuite is only one of them.
  • The job is a simple, deterministic sync that needs no judgment.
  • You need a workflow to fire when a NetSuite record is created or updated.
  • You want a published entry price and a large template library today.

Questions people ask

Is Erstan a Zapier alternative?

For finance and operations work in NetSuite, yes. For general automation across many apps, no. Zapier is the better tool for that, and the two work well together.

Does Zapier work with NetSuite?

Yes. NetSuite is a premium app on Zapier’s paid plans, with triggers for new and updated records and actions that create, update and transform records and run SuiteQL.

Can Zapier ask for approval before a write?

Yes, when you set it up: a Human in the Loop step, or per-tool approval on AI steps. In Erstan, approval is where write-capable tools start.

Can Erstan trigger when a NetSuite record changes?

Not as a built-in trigger today. Agents start from schedules, webhooks, email, forms and chat, so a scheduled agent can pick up new records each run, or NetSuite can call a webhook.
